MINUTE FRIENDS

This is a new series, which I started recently. As many of you know, I spend a lot of time in Greece. While we are there, we are usually surrounded by the same local people — at the places where we eat, where we buy my food, where we spend our days etc... These are people who have gotten to know me over time, and whom I know — just for a few weeks each year.

These short encounters feel familiar and light at the same time. We share small parts of our lives, then drift apart again, until the next year brings us back together and we pick up right where we left of. It’s this kind of strange interaction, where they become almost “minute friends.” (Inspired by the narrator out of fight club)

This summer I started to photograph those people—a series I plan to continue over the coming years. It feels like a way to hold on to these small but encounters, to see how they and I might change over time, and how these brief connections quietly shape my time in greece.
